Accommodation

Each participant of PGH programme is assured a place within Oxford University's residential campus. All rooms are within easy reach of seminar locations and city centre.

Our main residential base will be Oriel College, the fifth of the 40 colleges which constitute Oxford University, established in the early 14th century. The study bedrooms are in a modern block 15 minutes walk from the city centre while breakfast will be taken in the classical 17th century dining hall (similar to the one used for the Harry Potter films) in the main complex, closer to the seminar locations. Oriel has a history of success with its rowing team as well as its variety of academics, and has attracted many visitors from the middle east for its varied summer courses.

Eating in Oxford

Oxford is home to many restaurants and eateries which serve cuisines that originate from all around the world. Halal food is available from several shops and restaurants and they are all within easy reach from Oxford PGH operational bases.

A typical sandwich meal or Falafel wrap will cost around £3 with £7-10 per person for a restaurant option.

Prayers and self-study weekends

Participants are encouraged to go for prayers at Mosques around Oxford on Fridays. During Saturdays, participants may need to prepare for a seminar or project that will commence on an upcoming Sunday.

Projects & Activities

Learning by doing

We believe that optimum performance comes from individuals generating the best from their core potential while applying this personal wealth for overall team success.

Each week participants will go on trips to interesting sites of the UK and work on projects. Not only will participants visit historical landmarks, they will be exploring sites of interest beyond those which ordinary tourists experience.

On these outdoor adventures, participants prepare outlines of the projects which will differ for each team and will be required to work together to achieve a particular goal.

During the programme, participants will visit and explore institutions vital to the economy such as London Stock Exchange, one of the largest of its kind in the world, the Bank of England which is responsible for UK monetary policy and various organisations in the financial district of London.

However, the PGH programme is not 'all work and no play': participants will have ample time to visit the museums, castles and other mysterious places in and around Oxford.

Physical Logistics

Mobility

Oxford is compact and all sites of key importance can be reached on foot. To travel further within the city, it is possible to obtain local bus passes for approx £25-30 for a 2-week period; £40-45 for a month. Oxford is famous for its bicycle transport, but we do not expect our visitors to learn this skill !

Airport transfers

Oxford is easily accessible by frequent coaches from Heathrow and Gatwick Airports; however, if required, a taxi transfer can be arranged.

We hope you will extend your stay as long as possible to fully utilise Oxford's many resources.
